White for sure, then black, brown, pink and an aqua-ish or powder shade of blue. I find those the most versatile and they kind of go with everything.

I love color, and I love variety; this limitation would not be easy. My basics would be white, black, red, light beige, and pale blue.

I too would have a difficult time with this...but I would choose,
black, chocolate brown, green, red and yellow.
if I could have a 6th color it would be pink....
