I finally purchased one, but I'm a little scared to start it. Any tips? suggestions? What adhesive is best?

I have one also, and am not sure where to start!! I've seen some beautiful ones, and am a little intimidated to try. Any tips from someone who has done them would be greatly appreciated!!

Well, I can say that the two people I know who have done them (Marci and Sherry), I'm pretty sure Marci is out of town celebrating our holiday weekend and Sherry may be taking a well-earned sleeping-in!
If you wanted to get some ideas, you can see their work here: http://dixiepieces.com/v/Closed/ClearAlbum/

I did sleep in! LOL
So... arcylic albums. I found that a liquid glue that dries clear is the best bet. I used Crafter's Pick "The Ultimate" because it's what I had, but there are others equally as good out there.
Anythin you use, including the liquid glue is still visible, but you have to be looking for the clear liquid glue; it generally isn't distracting. For instance, check this page: http://dixiepieces.com/v/Closed/ClearAlbum/2007StoryOfUs+_1_.JPG.html. I placed the photo behind the clear acrylic because I didn't want it to take a beating on the front of the album; only the glitz is on the front. If you look, you can see the glue around the edges of my photo. My tip would be to make a straighter line than I did. That way your glue frame looks more like a design element than glue.
The other tip I'll call the "art of concealment". Take a little time to plan out both the front AND the back of each arcylic page. When you know where you're placing your photos and elements on each side, you can pick adhesive locations that will be concealed on the opposite side. Make sense?
I'm no expert, but I definitely recommend you just GO FOR IT! There are no rules, think about it as a fun learning experience. If you are using digital prints, you can even throw it all away if you don't like it.
One caution! The acrylic can scratch easily so I didn't remove my protective film until I was ready to do the "page".
Paint is a cool technique but do NOT attempt to remove it if you don't like it because you'll scratch your page (speaking from personal experience here -- that page I threw away.).

Gotta go! Hubby and I are going to do a little garage saling today so we can pick some some stuffed animals for killer -- I mean, Gracie. She's pretty much gone through our stock of toys.

I've done one so far and I used Zip Dry as my adhesive... You can use glaze pens on the acrylic...looks great...rubons really show up well too...
Here is my sample...i also embossed all my edges...very time consuming and harder than I thought it would be, but it turned out quite nice in the end: http://positive-force.blogspot.com/2008/05/june-far-far-away-kit-from-paper.htmlPosted 6 months ago # -
Lots of fun stuff in your album! I love it!

The "best" thing is to run your stuff through a Xyron, but if you don't have the larger machines then Zip Dry is the next best thing. I recommend using double sided paper so that you only have to attach it to one side of the acrylic and it will serve as a mat for photos on both sides.
Hambly transparency sheets are great for covering acrylic. I did an entire 6x6 album with barely any paper, I covered every page with a hambly and I was really happy with the turnout. Its on my blog here: http://marciknecht.blogspot.com/2008/06/happy-birthday-to-me.html
