In one of the recent mags there is an article about photo organization...how do you organize your photos? I have WAY too many on my computer and printed at this point...I totally need a new system, so this week that is my goal...sort/purge/organize...

My photos are not organized............it's something I keep thinking about doing, but need to quit thinking, and get down to the actual organizing!! I'd like to hear about anyones great organizational tips!!

Mine are organized by month/year... lol I have them in altered tins on my desk.

I too have mine in a grouping in a tin on my desk! Well, at least my new pics. My older ones are just thrown in a photo box.

it's organized at first.. then after sometime no more. i find it hard organize it properly ((sigh)) so i just group them together by person. i have them all dated so i won't have trouble including that on the layout.

I keep mine on my hard drive until I want to scrap one, otherwise I'd just have boxes and boxes of photos and that would intimidate me.
On my computer I file them in folders for each person by name, then I make subfolders inside those by date or event. Its the easiest way to do it.

My system is similar to Marci's. Keep them on the hard drive. I have a folder for each year and have lots of sub folders and sub-sub folders. Events or person depending on what the subject is.

I have mine in folders by year, then I have them tagged by subject and person in Photoshop Elements.

Elisa, I've wanted to make altered tins but didn't know what to do witht them once they were done, great idea! Now I HAVE to make one! lol.

Oh, so "virtually" my photos are in cds and some still in my hdd...they're stored in folders too, per person with dates.. i think basically that's how they're usually organized "virtually"...i can handle that
LOL! but u know, those photos that you thought you'd use and had developed but later on changed ur mine you just used 1 or 2? i have many of those... in envelopes and in a box as well.

MIne are stored on my hard drive too! I have them sorted into years and by person as well. The ones that I do have printed I have sorted into one of those plastic coupon dividers, each boy has a sorter and then each tab is a different event.
