I just found out that my husband has to have surgery for what is most likely cancer. He has a tumor in his perotid gland and the pathology results have come back with mixed readings, but most likely it is cancerous. Some of the easy tumors have been ruled out. His family has a big history of cancer so there's a good chance. The military is sending him to Hawaii for the surgery as there is not radiation and chemo treatments at the hospital here on the base in Okinawa. The surgery itself is tricky just to remove the tumor because there is a large nerve going through the gland that controls the facial muscles so he could be paralyzed on that side of his face, or not be able to close his eye and lose his eye. And until he has the surgery and gets the tumor removed, they won't know for sure what the cancer is or how bad. Your prayers in our behalf would be appreciated!!

Gwen, I will definitely pray for you and thanks for expressing your need. When do you head for Hawaii, and do you have friends or family there for emotional support? I am so sorry you are going through this.

Oh Gwen, I'm so sorry to hear that...... we are fighting cancer right now with my Mom.... I totally know how you feel.... I will be praying for you guys. Hang in there and keep your faith. God will see you through this... remember he's always there for you to lean on.

Hugs Gwen.... Tripler Hospital is state of the art. he will get excellent care. I grew up there an we all had a surgery or two while my dad was military. Its been many years but it still gets high marks in the medical field. All my siblings live there and if you travel there pm me and ill give you their cells in case you need a friendly face to talk to.

Oh, Gwen - I'm sorry, too. I wish we didn't ever have to go through bad, scary things like this! Thanks for being so detailed, so we know what to pray. I can't imagine the fear, plus this on top of his foot things this summer. Man!

Yeah, and he's still on crutches!! He's supposed to get rid of them next week, and be able to walk with just the boot on. The last two years or so of our lives has gone just like this..................one thing after another.............almost so much we just have to laugh sometimes the list is so long. It was almost two years ago I was in Hawaii getting radiation treatments for breast cancer. Our trials make us stronger though, and I think has even made us closer as husband and wife. My Aunt emailed me yesterday and said that she thinks we're strong enough now though, and could use some good old "Boring" in our lives!!!!
